Bio Sculpture nails

At the beginning of the year I trained in Bio Sculpture Gel nails, the number one healthier alternative in nail care preferred worldwide. Gel nails are by far the best form of overlay system available in todays market as they do not cause any damage to the natural nail, unlike acrylic (liquid and powder) systems. Bio Sculpture, in particular, are focused solely on marketing their products as nail treatments which are healier and beneficial to the natural nails; their products are applied as a coating to your own nails to strengthen and condition them with no damage or dreaded fungal growth.

Bio Sculpture gel is applied to the natural nail as an overlay; it is easy to apply, with no chemical fumes, and soaks off clean in 20 minutes! There are over 60 different colours to choose from (however, I have a limited collection in my kit-I can order colours on demand), and the gel is long wearing and chip-proof.

Gel nails are great for weddings, special occassions or even just every day wear! They last up to 2 weeks before needing an infill or them re-done (due to re-growth) so maintenance is required if you want them looking great indefinitely.

My price list 2009:

Full set gel overlays/infill clear/colour/french £25.00
Full set gel overlays on toes £20.00
Full set gel overlays on toes and pedicure £35.00
Soak off and mini manicure £15.00
Repair of nail using silk (per nail) £1.00

Photo Shoot with Pure View Photography

On Wednesday 27th May 2009 I got together with contemporary photographer Louise Jeffery, and her husband Iain Jeffery. They put together a photo shoot with 3 young models. This was a great opportunity for me to be creative and really show off my make up skills so I jumped at the chance!

I decided to do 3 natural looks to begin with, and half way through I was able to be a bit more experimental. The girls were great and Louise really captured some great shots. Below is a small selection of the pictures; one each of the natural look and one each of the second look.

London College of Fashion

Back in March 2009 I completed an intensive course; "Guide to Promotional Make up Artistry", at the famous London College of Fashion. I have to say it was a fantastic course and I met some great new friends. My tutor, Lucy Wearing, was fantastic and a great inspiration. Previous to going to the college, I had done a small amount of make-up at Croydon College (where I trained to be a beauty therapist) as well as doing my friends and families make up on the odd occassion, however it was not enough and I wanted to learn more. Completing the course is my first step in for-filling my dream to become a make up artist!

Below are pictures from the two professional shoots I did while on the course. My first shoot was a beauty head shot and my inspiration was 'summer' so I went for relaxed curls in the hair and a nice big flower. To compliment the hair, I took the red from the flower as my theme for the make up.

My second shoot was based on the 1950's own Marylin Monroe. I chose to use her as my inspiration because she is one of the world's most iconic actress/model/singer and I just love her style, and the style of the 1940's and 50's in general. In this shoot, I also based it on a recent advertisment for Dolce & Gabbana lipstick and eyeshadow by using different fabrics and textures to create a 'bed', similar to the look they used in their magazine adverts.
